STAND for Success: Authentic Leadership in a Challenging World

If you're getting pushback as you try to step into your greatness (or help your clients do so), this new, supportive program can help you thrive despite the pressures to conform and comply. Right now, you might be getting stressed over whether you'll be able to advance your career in business due to budget cuts or lack of support as a member of a minority group, or hang on to your science, environmental, or social service grants and government jobs.

You’re not alone if you’re overwhelmed by an overly competitive or aggressive environment. I've lived it as a former top-ranked tennis player and seasoned Wall Street Human Resources professional. I know how to use selective aggression to earn respect and drive results—and I’ve also seen the damage from overusing it.

How do you thrive in challenging environments without losing your identity?

Introducing STAND for Success: Authentic Leadership in a Challenging World, designed for individuals who want to succeed without compromising their identity. Learn to navigate competitive dynamics, manage Machiavellians and challengers, and embrace healthy competition—while staying calm, confident, and empowered.

Master the art of healthy competition. Build resilience, confidence, a strategic mindset, and a toolkit to thrive —even in the most aggressive and hyper-competitive world.

Program Agenda

  • S – Strategic Collaborative Competitive Mindset

    May 8 | 12:00-1:15 PM

Kathryn discovered that succeeding in the most competitive industries requires a mindset shift—seeing competition as an opportunity for collaboration. Drawing from insights in her first influential book, Collaborative Competition, you'll learn to reframe competition as a source of energy and growth rather than victimization or a zero-sum game. You will learn how to practice healthy competition by forming pacing partners who push and support your success. You will select a fellow participant to be your pacing partner throughout the program

  • T – Tap into the Power of Body Language

    May 22 | 12:00-1:15 PM

Your leadership is shaped by how you organize and present your body. For instance, slouched shoulders and avoided eye contact versus standing tall with direct eye contact create vastly different impressions and outcomes. By becoming more aware of how you show up, you gain greater control, opening the door to more choices and increased power. You will learn how to navigate situations using the four core postures—Queen, Lover, Fool, and Warrior. You'll discover which postures feel natural and how to embody their emotions, helping you project confidence in every scenario.

  • A – Adopt an Organizationally Savvy Mindset and Tools

    June 12 | 12:00-1:15 PM

Research demonstrates that savvy people have bigger networks, are more influential, and are likely to be promoted. Less influential people tend to avoid organizational politics because they don’t want to “play the game” or be inauthentic. You will understand the savvy mindset about legitimizing organizational politics and practicing ethical influence. And, you will learn proven, simple tactics to influence without authority and build strategic networks, enhancing influence and success and reducing stress.

  • N – Nurture Allies from Rivals

    June 26 | 12:00-1:15 PM

Identify and transform rivals into allies through respectful and results-oriented engagement. Learn to distinguish between the distinct types of rivals so that you can engage with them versus ignoring them. You will learn and practice how to manage bullies, Machiavellians, and difficult people in a way that respects boundaries and achieves results.

  • D – Dare to Experiment!

    July 10 | 12:00-1:15 PM

The top 5% of the most influential people share a common trait: they take more small, calculated risks—like asking for help—which amplifies their influence. In this session, inspired by Kathryn’s new book, The Productive Perfectionist, you'll uncover your own approach to risk-taking and learn practical strategies to make it feel more manageable even in extremely competitive environments. You will also learn resilience tools so you can bounce back more quickly when you experience missteps. By embracing frequent, tiny risks, you'll foster both personal and professional growth, propelling yourself toward greater success and less stress.

  • BONUS

    September 11 | 12:00-1:00 PM

This session will review participants’ application of the concepts learned and gather insights to improve future sessions. We will explore questions such as “Which part of the training program resonated the most and was easy to apply?” and “What aspects did you struggle with or need more support?”
